![]() The Spacer's Choice edition promises improved visuals and performance. ![]() I loved it at the time, was delighted when they issued a performance enhancing patch for current-gen consoles a year later, and I was even more delighted when they announced the sequel. A sort of spiritual follow-up to Fallout: New Vegas that brings a brand new retro-futuristic scifi universe to the pantheon of Western RPGs, where stats actually matter, and speech checks are just as pivotal to the experience as having the biggest gun. Because The Outer Worlds, Obsidian’s bold, space bound, and deliciously self-aware RPG that came out at the tail end of last-gen in late 2019, is a fantastic game. I wanted to write an article with a headline along the lines of “With Starfield confirmed to be six months away, this Outer Worlds remaster will do very nicely to tide you over”. But it’s still noticeably choppy out in the open world, to the point where we would still recommend sticking with the original version, which had a 60fps update on consoles some time ago and still looks great. We can report that the situation on PS5 at least is better, certainly a lot more playable, and the game engages VRR now which helps smooth things out if you have a capable screen. Succeeded at 3 dialog conversation checks with a single disguise.Following the publishing of this article, Private Division did release a performance update as promised and are currently working to optimise the game further. Killed an enemy under the effects of 4 science weapons. Simultaneously had bonuses for meat, carbohydrates, sugary drink, caffeine, and alcohol. Killed an enemy with a science weapon sneak attack during TTD, with a weakspot critical hit. Killed 20 enemies that were infected by spreading N-rays. Killed an enemy that was hit with all 5 damage types. Wore 'A Nice Hat' and 'Chimaera' at the same time. Simultaneously equipped Spacer's Choice brand clothing, headgear, and 4 weapons. Had 75% or higher negative reputation with 3 factions. Had 75% or higher positive reputation with 3 factions. Sold 10,000 bits worth of items to vendors. Killed 50 enemies with a tossball stick or tossball blocker. Turned 100 enemies to ash with plasma damage. Killed 30 automechanicals with shock damage. Improved your gear 30 times through tinkering and mods. Hit 30 enemies in the groin during tactical time dilation. Used dialog skills 30 times in conversations. Killed 50 enemies with companion abilities. There are also a ton of missable trophies in this game, particularly when it comes to those many hidden trophies, so if you decide to go in blind, just know it'll probably be a miracle if you get the platinum in one playthrough without a guide. For new PS5 players, you will have to beat The Outer Worlds on its hardest difficulty - Supernova - if you want to complete the full trophy list. The good news, however, is that it gives you another chance to earn that Outer Worlds platinum trophy all over again. ![]() For fans of The Outer Worlds, the bad news is that all of these trophies are exactly the same as they were on PS4.
